Energy Management Association conference

Date:
Tuesday, May 17, 2016 to Wednesday, May 18, 2016
Location:
Auckland

The theme of the conference is Energy Productivity and Partnerships. Paul Conway will provide a broader NZ specific context to the productivity discussions.

Why is NZ’s overall productivity so difficult to lift and what will help?

Innovation and technological adoption are two key drivers of productivity growth. But as is apparent from New Zealand’s productivity track record, adopting new technologies is a “sticky” process and much can go wrong along the way. Successful adoption requires firms to be smart and adaptive and prepared to invest in complementary assets and management capability.

Against this backdrop, Paul will outline why lifting the overall productivity of New Zealand firms has proven to be so difficult. He will also sketch out the broad policy directions necessary to fully benefit from the monumental changes currently taking place in the global economy.
